MaineCare/Medicade has expanded to include adults with no dependents based on income qualification, apply now online or at your local DHHS office in Portland, Biddeford or Sanford.

MBCHP Eligible Women:

*Be a Maine woman age 40 or older*

*Have household income less than or equal to 250% of the current Federal Poverty Level (FPL)

*Have no health insurance, or health insurance that does not cover mammograms or Pap tests (preventive cancer screening services), or has high deductibles, co-insurance, co-pays, or premiums.

Women receiving Medicare Part B or MaineCare benefits are not eligible for MBCHP. (Mammograms and Pap tests are covered under these programs.)

* Limited openings for women age 35-39 who have seen a doctor and need additional tests for a possible breast or cervical cancer OR if you have not had a Pap in 5 or more years.

Enrollment in the screening program provides coverage for screening services for one year. Enrollees may re-enroll in MBCHP as long as eligibility requirements are met.


Accepts MaineCare and has a sliding scale fee program. Some sites offer dental services at greatly reduced costs.

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)
Maine's federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) provide care to medically underserved areas where healthcare access is otherwise limited or non-existent, especially for those who are uninsured, underserved or have MaineCare coverage. FQHCs include health care for the homeless sites and care for Maine's migrant workers and their families.

About MedAccess

Do you need help paying for prescription medications? Call us, we can help. 

MedAccess works with individuals and healthcare providers to identify ways patients can save money on prescription medications. The free program, administered by MaineHealth, helps patients and healthcare providers evaluate options such as pharmaceutical companies' patient assistance programs, low-cost generic programs, and Medicare Part D and state and local prescription programs that can help save on prescription medication costs.
